We are a school in the middle of something exciting. Since joining the Charter Schools Educational Trust, we have been reimagining what a primary school in Brixton can look like: opening up possibilities, deepening our curriculum and building a community where every child feels they belong.
Our curriculum is ambitious and inclusive. We want children to think critically, ask bold questions, solve problems and leave us with a genuine love of learning. While academic success matters, I believe a great education is about so much more than results. Some of my favourite moments as Headteacher are greeting children as they return from a trip, workshop, performance or residential visit, full of stories and excitement about what they have seen, discovered and experienced. Those moments matter. They spark curiosity, build confidence, broaden horizons and often become the memories children talk about for years to come. We believe every child deserves those experiences, because opportunity should never be something reserved for a few.
For children to embrace these opportunities and thrive, they must first feel safe, happy and known. Strong relationships sit at the heart of everything we do, creating the trust, belonging and sense of community that help children flourish. High expectations and genuine care are not in tension here; they go hand in hand.
