Music

A lifelong love of musical expression

Music

Overview

Our vision for music is to foster a lifelong love of musical expression. We aim to deepen children's understanding of musicality, rhythm and cultural diversity by exposing them to a wide range of genres, traditions and instruments. Every child has access to learning an instrument so that talent can flourish and every pupil has a meaningful creative outlet.

How we teach

Music is taught by specialist teachers from Lambeth Music. In Early Years and KS1, lessons focus on singing, rhythm and body percussion, building strong foundations. From Year 3, children begin instrumental tuition in class. As pupils progress through KS2, they develop deeper musical understanding through reading chords, notes and introductory theory. We also offer a school choir, take part in the Lambeth Primary Singing Programme, and welcome musical workshops and visitors throughout the year.
